Psychiatric Diagnostic Evaluations

A psychiatric diagnostic evaluation is an integrated biopsychosocial assessment that includes the elicitation of a complete medical history (to include past, family, and social), psychiatric history, a complete mental status exam, establishment of a tentative diagnosis, and an evaluation of the patient’s ability and willingness to participate in the proposed treatment plan. Information may be obtained from the patient, other physicians, other clinicians or community providers, and/or family members or other sources. There may be overlapping of the medical and psychiatric history depending upon the problem(s).

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is a way to help people with a broad variety of mental illnesses and emotional difficulties. Psychotherapy can help eliminate or control troubling symptoms so a person can function better and can increase well-being and healing.

Psychological Testing

Psychological assessment is a series of tests conducted by a psychologist, to gather information about how people think, feel, behave and react. The findings are used to develop a report of the person’s abilities and behavior—known as a psychological report—which is then used as a basis to make recommendations for the individual’s treatment.

Laboratory Testing

Our bodies use symptoms, whether mental or physical, to tell us that we are ill. But to understand the meaning behind those symptoms, we must listen to and understand another language through which our imbalanced physiology speaks – biochemistry. Laboratory testing is one way those biochemical messages can be made audible.

Medication Management

Medication management is a level of outpatient treatment that involves the initial evaluation of the patient’s need for psychotropic medications, the provision of a prescription, and ongoing medical monitoring related to the patient’s use of the psychotropic medication by a qualified physician/prescriber. Medication management includes monitoring, reconciling medications, and ensuring patients get the desired outcomes. It requires a thorough review of prescribed drugs and their possible side effects to create treatment plans and monitor their safety and efficacy.
